Job Description
THE POSITION:
The Patient Financial Advocate (PFA) is responsible for managing a patient’s financial assistance. They assist patients with navigating foundation support, commercial copay, and free drug programs per the program requirements. Additionally, as a part of the Care Team the PFA works cross functionally to ensure the patient has a positive experience throughout their entire journey.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

These results are achieved by:
- Manage patient assistance programs (PAP) as required per program
- Coordinate financial assistance as required by patient
- Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of protected health information; follow HIPPA security policies and procedures
- All other duties as assigned

EXPECTATIONS OF THE JOB:
- Verify patient eligibility per program requirements
- Ongoing eligibility verification for patient assistance and financial assistance programs
- Communicate program requirements and limitations to patients as necessary
- Track patient balances to prevent coverage lapses
- Identify, educate and assist patients to secure appropriate financial assistance
- Apply program PAP criteria for all patients referred to the PAP program
- Identify and enroll patients in foundation support for all programs
- Monitor available financial assistance programs for changes or additional opportunities
- Take inbound calls from patients

Qualifications
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The requirements listed below are representative of the experience, education, knowledge, skill and/or
abilities required.
- GED/High School Diploma and 2 years’ experience
- Experience in a pharmacy setting
- Ability to obtain registration Missouri pharmacy technician registration
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Computer proficiencies, including Microsoft office
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Medical billing experience

This is a largely sedentary role. While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand and/or sit for long period of time (up to 90%). Additionally they are regularly required to talk or hear, type and engage in repetitive motion, reach and grasp; occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
