JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Penn State York is seeking current Penn State York students to act as part-time Peer Tutors.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Peer Tutors must be knowledgeable in their subject area.

  • Have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Must have earned an A or A- in the subject tutored
  • Recommended by the instructor of the course.
  • Commit to keeping information regarding students confidential, records of all tutoring sessions, complete all required paper work, and submit records of tutoring sessions on time. 

Additionally Peer tutors are expected to:  

  • Have good communication skills
  • Be able to work in one-on-one or in small study groups
  • Attend training sessions
  • Attend class regularly
  • Keep all tutoring appointments
  • Work effectively with the supervisor

 

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
