Job Summary

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to provide outpatient medical services for children with behavioral health needs. Primary hours will be Monday through Friday, day shift, with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients. 

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with attending physician(s), perform triage, collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies, provide diagnostic procedures and professional consultations, prescribe appropriate interventions and medications, coordinate the care of patients, and provide direct patient care services to child and adolescent patients with behavioral health needs. 
  • Provide timely documentation in the electronic medical record of all relevant data including results of diagnostic tests; laboratory results; patients’ condition and response to therapies/interventions; communications with physician colleagues.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing all pertinent patient information to supervising MD, nursing staff, patient resource manager, and other relevant healthcare providers.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within the department to provide care to complex patients.
  • Analyze clinical practice patterns so as to provide the best medical care and to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Make work assignments for assigned nursing and technical personnel; review the work of other staff; train new personnel.
  • Participate in teaching students and residents in techniques and procedures which are unique to the mental health setting.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

 

Job Eligibility Requirements

 

Education           

  • Nurse Practitioners:  Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Physician Assistants:  Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.

 

Certification 

  • BLS required.

 

License                

  • Nurse Practitioners:  Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. National certification as a NP required prior to or within 6 months of employment.
  • Physician Assistants:  Must be licensed in the state of NC, and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

 

Experience          

  • 1+ years of APP experience strongly preferred.

 

Job Hours

Monday-Friday, day shift, with flexibility to meet clinic needs
