Varsity Boys Assistant Coach (Senior Coach) (Mt Baker Rowing & Sailing)

Mt. Baker Rowing and Sailing Center is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Varsity Boys Assistant Coach to support our high school boys' rowing program. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about youth development, teamwork, and fostering a positive and competitive training environment.

Job Title: Varsity Boys Assistant Rowing Coach
Location: Mt. Baker Rowing and Sailing Center – Seattle, WA
Position Type: Part-Time 
Start Date: September 3, 2025

 

Work Week Schedule: 

  • 4:15-6:45PM, Mon-Fri, 9:30-11:30AM Sat

 

Pay rate: $23.68 - $28.06 Hourly

 

Varsity Boys Assistant Coach (Sr Coach) Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Varsity Boys Head Coach in planning and leading daily practices and regattas
  • Support the physical and technical development of experienced high school rowers
  • Uphold team standards and contribute to a culture of respect, accountability, and inclusion
  • Provide mentorship and guidance both on and off the water
  • Ensure athlete safety and adherence to all Mt. Baker and Seattle Parks and Recreation policies

Senior Coach-Rowing and Sailing Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Prior coaching or competitive rowing experience (varsity or collegiate level preferred)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before the season starts)
  • USRowing SafeSport certification and background check clearance
  • Ability to work weekday afternoons, some early mornings, and weekends for races
  • Boaters license (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with high school rowers
  • Trailer driving experience (or willingness to learn)
