How you’ll contribute

The RN House Supervisor provides administrative and clinical leadership for all acute care nursing units during off-hours. This role is the primary decision-maker for hospital-wide operations, ensuring that staffing levels match patient acuity and that "patient flow" (admissions, transfers, and discharges) is handled efficiently to prevent bottlenecks in the Emergency Department.

RN House Supervisor who excels in this role:

  • Acute Patient Throughput: Coordinate hospital-wide bed management; determine appropriate placement for patients based on level of care (e.g., Med-Surg vs. ICU).

  • Dynamic Staffing Management: Adjust unit staffing in real-time based on fluctuating patient volumes and acuity scores, often managing "sick calls" and agency staff.

  • Clinical Escalation Lead: Serve as the first responder and coordinator for Rapid Response Teams and Code Blues across all acute care floors.

  • Service Recovery: Act as the on-site administrative representative to resolve immediate concerns between patients, families, and physicians.

  • Regulatory Watchdog: Monitor units for compliance with The Joint Commission safety standards and hospital policies.
