EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
- Education
Effective January 1, 2024, a graduate degree will be required for new candidates who qualify for the certification exam. Candidates who qualify for the exam or have received their Registered Dietitian credential prior to January 1, 2024 are grandfathered and will only require a Bachelor's degree.
- Experience
2 years of experience in a Registered Dietitian Role to include
1 year of experience in a healthcare setting
- Licenses and Certifications
(RD) REGISTERED DIETITIAN by Commission on Dietetic Registration Upon Hire and
(LDIE) LICENSED DIETITIAN in the State of Texas Upon Hire and
If awaiting examination/credentialing at time of hire, must be obtained within 6 months of hire date. Must be supervised by a Licensed Dietitian while undergoing the preceding.
ADDITIONAL ADVANCE CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
(CNSC) CERTIFIED NUTRITION SUPPORT Upon Hire or
(CSO) CER SPECIALST IN ONCOLOGY NUTR Upon Hire or
(CDE) CERT DIABETES EDUCATOR Upon Hire or
(CSR) Board Cert Spec Renal Nut Upon Hire or
(CSPN) CERT SPECIALIST IN PED NUTR - Pediatric Nutrition (CSP) Upon Hire or
(CSG) CER SPECIALST GERONTLOGCL NUTR - Gerontological Nutrition Certificate (CSG) Upon Hire or
Obesity and Weight Management (CSOWM) Upon Hire or
Pediatric Critical Care Nutrition (CSPCC) Upon Hire or
Sports Dietetics (CSSD) Upon Hire or
Nutrition Wound Care Certified (NWCC) Upon Hire
JOB DUTIES
- Coordinates, documents, and provides individualized medical nutrition therapy and nutrition care for prevention and treatment of diseases with consideration of any age-related factors for pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients. Evaluates outcomes of nutrition interventions.
- Documents all relevant aspects of nutritional care for patients in accordance with departmental standards.
- Maintains established department productivity standards.
- Acts as an education resource for students, dietetic interns, clinics, hospital staff, other RDs and Nutrition department staff and provides feedback and guidance when a
