About the role
HealthPartners is hiring a Senior Underwriter. They will Evaluate the risk on individual applicants, small group cases or large group cases through the use of medical or experience underwriting. This role will also provide training and work direction to other department members.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Medically underwrite new sales groups and changes to existing groups
- Assist large employer underwriting with estimating ongoing costs on large and self-insured groups
- Assist with renewal process
- Act as a resource for internal departments regarding legislation and with inquiries regarding rate development and final decisions
- Keep abreast of changes in laws/legislation/competitors and ensure HealthPartners implements changes where needed to maintain it’s presence in the industry
- Maintain monthly management reports
- Provide necessary training for Underwriting and Sales staff
- Review/update underwriting guidelines and maintain underwriting forms/procedures
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical/Health Insurance related field or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of at least 5 years medical underwriting experience
- Computer skills using Microsoft Office products or comparable applications
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- High degree of attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
- Strong consulting skills
