The Music Mission team owns Spotify's end to end proposition for music creators and the experiences they create for fans. The team is dedicated to building tools and services to enable creation, promotion, expression, and monetization at scale.
We’re looking for a Staff Product Designer to directly impact shaping remarkable experiences for music artists, artist managers, labels, and their teams. Our goal is to connect music creators with the industry-leading tools and resources available through Spotify for Artists. You'll craft strategies deeply rooted in user insights, painting a vision of the future and delivering on that through effective planning, interaction design, visuals, interactive prototypes, and constant iteration and experimentation.
To power the growing scale, complexity, and business needs of Spotify’s Music Mission, the Music Vertical Platform team builds the core capabilities and platforms that enable creators and their teams to build an audience, monetize, engage with fans, and live off of their work. You'll help us increase our impact on the music industry by ensuring we deliver a credible product to our users and partners, developing a consistent and coherent core user experience, and enabling our internal teams to quickly iterate and innovate.

What You'll Do

  • Co-create business and design strategy for the Spotify for Artists platform in collaboration with Senior Management and Product Area leadership, shaping an exciting and impactful vision.
  • Partner closely with product, insights, and tech counterparts to craft a customer-centric and data-informed user experience for Spotify for Artists, translating it into an inspiring Design Strategy for your team.
  • Take ownership of a complex product and platform spanning multiple internal Spotify teams, delivering a top-class experience for artists and their teams.
  • Identify new problems and opportunities, guiding teams in understanding, researching, and defining effective strategies to solve them.
  • Lead product designers by instilling great design practices, attention to detail, and innovative thinking, driving impactful outcomes for the business.
  • Steer design execution to achieve customer and business goals, providing guidance to other product designers for well-rounded solutions.
  • Drive the usage of our design system, develop UX frameworks, and advocate for reusability and consistency.
  • Set a high bar for product design quality and mentor designers to enable their success.
  • Thoughtfully choose the appropriate fidelity and format to communicate ideas, painting a vivid picture of the future and influencing roadmaps and strategies.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in product design expert for the Spotify for Artists space, pioneering and scaling our tools and ecosystem.
  • Contribute to defining and establishing best practices and standards for localization, accessibility, and inclusion in design.

Who You Are

  • Experience and passion for building impactful products and systems at scale.
  • Strong product design knowledge and exceptional craft that inspires and drives execution.
  • Successful track record of designing and shipping products for businesses, with a focus on driving key business lines. Bonus points for experience in creator products, marketplaces, the music industry, and enterprise (B2B).
  • Desire to make a significant impact and tackle complex domains.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous spaces and skilled in data-driven execution and testing.
  • Excellent storytelling and communication skills to champion healthy collaboration with internal and external team members.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with cross-functional peers and Product Area leads.
  • Strong understanding of visual design principles, including consistency, color, typography, and animation.
  • Advocate for strong design practices and the ability to support and coach other designers in improving their craft.
  • Commit to inclusion and equity, holding others accountable for non-inclusive behaviors, and cultivating a psychologically safe environment.
