Apex is seeking a Sr Environmental Health and Safety Project Manager. This a part time variable role, scheduled work hours may vary. 

Role Overview: 

• This role is all about employee accident prevention.  The incumbent will execute a variety of occupational safety projects from start to finish.   
• The role will routinely involve a blend of (1) workplace / shop floor employee injury exposure assessments, and (2) safety program management effectiveness evaluations and continuous improvement support. 
• The incumbent will be assigned to work on a part-time variable basis, picking up available projects that go along with their availability and skills.. 
• A key major project that will initially be assigned to the incumbent involves the completion and project management of a broad ‘Safety Risk Analysis’ effort.  This effort will involve the classification and documentation of employee injury exposures and safety risks in all production spaces/buildings.  The effort will also involve the creation and posting of risk-specific signage by department.  This project is part of a larger strategic effort supporting the client’s companywide ‘Risk Register and Injury Reduction’ initiative.   
• A strong background in at least several of the following specific topics is required.  These have previously been determined by the client to be among their most ‘High Hazard’ areas. 
• Aircraft Towing 
• Fall Protection 
• Chemical Process Management 
• Vehicle/Pedestrian Safety 
• Machine Operations / Machine Guarding 
• Confined Space Entry 
• Hazardous Energy / Lockout-Tagout 
• Crane Operations 
• Ordnance 
• While the prominent technical area associated with this position is Industrial/Occupational Safety, a general base of knowledge in Ergonomics and Industrial Hygiene is also desirable.   
•  The incumbent will also provide project leadership and project management functions.   
• Perhaps most importantly, the incumbent will be an energetic self-starter with the ability to work independently and produce results within budget and timeframe.  

Your Responsibilities as an Apex Occupational Safety Professional: 

• Providing comprehensive occupational safety and health consulting services to clients, including: 
• Conducting reviews of existing safety and health programs - from either a regulatory compliance perspective, or an effectiveness-in-action perspective 
• Conducting shop floor observations focused on identifying, assessing and risk-ranking employee exposures to injury 
• Devising solution options aimed at mitigating employee injury exposures 
• Providing clients with hands-on assistance with implementation of chosen solutions 
• Monitoring the effectiveness of solutions implemented.  Have they stood the test of time? 
• Tracking and analyzing clients’ employee injury experience, looking for trends, common themes, and potential high leverage accident prevention activities    
• In collaboration with Apex project managers, coordinates and executes industrial safety projects within set organizational procedures and standards.
