Job Summary: This role supports the Health, Safety, Environmental and Security (HSES) Department with site wide environmental operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Environmental Specialist with characterizing waste based on generator knowledge, supporting technical documentation, and/or data analysis
- Assist Environmental Specialist with review, approval and signing of waste disposal paperwork
- Manage physical and electronic hazardous, non-hazardous and universal waste inventories
- Pickup and transport chemical waste from areas of generation to designated storage areas
- Ensure stored waste areas are compliant with storage requirements and materials are properly labeled, marked, and dated
- Assist with the completion and documentation of site regulatory inspections of all tank farms, pipelines and storage areas
- Handle hazardous, non-hazardous, and universal waste utilizing a flatbed truck, tow motor, pallet jack or drum dolly
- Work with area owners to ensure satellite waste areas are compliant
- Support all hazardous, non-hazardous and universal waste shipments
- Act as primary for water and waste sampling and as a backup for air sampling
- Assist with waste and process effluent control system management and alarm response
- Support tank farm personnel with all bulk waste shipments or discharges
- Assist the HSES Department with all internal and external audits or inspections
- Maintain required certifications
- Additional duties as assigned
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Trained in RCRA and certified in DOT or ability to be within 30 days of hire
- Tow motor certified or ability to be withing 90 days of hire
- Basic knowledge of RCRA and/or other environmental regulations
- Strong communication skills
- Competent in basic computer skills
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work with limited supervision
Considered a Plus:
- HAZWOPER certified or other emergency response experience
- Degree in Environmental Science, Studies, or similar
- DOT Hazmat Employee certification
- Hazardous waste management experience
- Knowledge of DCSs (e.g., Delta V) and SAP
Working Conditions:
- Able to climb and lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to wear all PPE including hard hats, hearing protection, safety shoes to perform role
- Ability to work 50% outdoors
- Able to work weekends and holidays as needed
