Summary
Le Bonheur Children's Hospital (Memphis, TN) is seeking a Supplemental Mental Health Counselor. This is a grant funded role with the tele-psychiatry consult line. Provides and coordinates psychological counseling to treat patients with mental disorders. Coordinates the utilization review and patient access process for behavioral health patients. Conducts educational programs, activities, and clinical supervision of therapeutic programming. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

REQUIRED:
Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work or closely related field.
Minimum of three (3) year’s experience (post Master’s) in psychological counseling.
Licensed as one (1) of the following:
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Tennessee.
OR
- Licensure as a Master Social Worker (LMSW) by the state(s) in which is performed.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of current theories and principles of mental health disorders and best-practice counseling techniques.
- Demonstrated knowledge and use of medical criteria for reimbursement of services rendered for mental health. Ability to read, interpret, and apply guidelines for charge reimbursement.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with peers, medical staff, patients/families and other constituents involved in patient care.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to conduct all activities in accordance with professional ethics and values.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Coordinates the utilization review and patient access process for behavioral health patients.
- Provides and coordinates psychological counseling for patients.
- Conducts educational programs, activities, and clinical supervision of therapeutic programming.
- Performs other job functions as needed.
Physical Requirements
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: medium work - exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
- Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations; must be available for on-call status.
