- Quality Assurance: Ensure consistency in grammar, mechanics, voice, tone and format. Able to fact-check content, interpret basic statistics and verify the accuracy of brand elements, phone numbers and links.
- Adherence to Style Guides: Utilize the AP Stylebook and internal style guidelines. Apply judgment and clearly explain decisions when guidelines do not cover specific scenarios, consulting with other editors when uncertainty arises.
- Communication and Collaboration: Collaborate with writers, designers and other marketing staff to keep projects moving and meet goals and deadlines. Identify and communicate opportunities for improving content and processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism or a related field, or equivalent. We welcome those with nontraditional backgrounds to apply and share how their experiences make them a great fit.
- Attention to Detail: Strong ability to identify errors and inconsistencies in written content.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a facilitator’s mindset. The ability to proactively communicate with team members to ensure projects are completed is critical.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with AP Stylebook preferred.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to proactively seek solutions and use available resources to overcome challenges.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust to changing deadlines and project requirements, while staying mindful of overall project goals and understanding that each project may have unique requirements.
Attributes of Strong Candidates:
- Growth Mindset: Eagerness to learn and share knowledge, accepting that mistakes are part of the learning process.
- Creativity and Initiative: Ability to apply creative solutions and reference principles to address issues.
- Organizational Skills: Strong time management skills and ability to stay organized while managing multiple tasks in a remote work environment. Able to prioritize based on urgency and importance during peak periods, keeping lines of communication open.
- Collaborative Spirit: Willingness to engage with teammates and understand their roles to improve project outcomes. Prioritizes teamwork, stepping forward to help colleagues with projects as needed.
