Position Qualifications

Education/Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education OR

• Bachelor's degree in non-Education related fields may be acceptable in conjunction with a Master's degree in Education. 

AND

• A secondary teaching certificate for Grades 6-12 in one (1) or more of the following approved areas: Reading, English Language Arts, Math, Science, History or Physical Education; OR

• Adult Education Certificate with minimum one (1) year experience teaching ages 16 to adult.
    

Other Requirements 

• Must possess or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire, a valid Arizona driver’s license.

• Training with the exception of Arizona driver's license to be provided on-the-job: FEMA NIMS – IS100 and 700; OSHA training; ADP payroll training; PREA training. 

• Prior to hiring, the Sheriff's Office requires that all candidates pass an extensive background review.

 
Our Preferred Candidate has

• Two (2) year's classroom teaching experience grades 6-12 or G.E.D. adults ages 16 and above

• Highly qualified in one or more of the following areas: math, English, economics, social studies, science, history, and/or geography

• Reading or Math endorsement

• Comprehensive knowledge of Arizona Academic Standards

• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certified

• Positive Behavior Intervention & Support (PBIS) training
