JOB SUMMARY:
Provides high quality, comprehensive therapeutic direct and indirect care for the patient, which is supportive of the care given by the Physical/Occupational Therapy Department. Provides back-up coverage for check-in and scheduling functions for patients.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- One-year experience with patients preferred.
- Two years college with classes in anatomy, exercise physiology or health and sports science preferred.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:
- CPR Certification.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists with patient care treatment under the supervision of a licensed physical or occupational therapist to meet the goals and needs of the patient.
- Provides appropriate patient care in accordance with age/developmental guidelines.
- Communicates in a professional manner with patients, physicians, and staff.
- Performs various administrative, inventory, and organizational duties to meet the needs of the department.
- Promotes professional growth and provides community education and/or committee representation.
- Maintains safe and clean treatment areas.
- Performs various scheduling, check-in/out support functions.
- Assists with supply and equipment ordering and restocking.
- Assists clinic management with clinic preparations and maintain readiness for regulatory compliance standards and surveys.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to communicate professionally with therapist and other health professionals
- Ability to communicate with patients of all age groups
- Experience with computer processing
- Demonstrates courteous and respectful communication skills
- Demonstrates flexibility with an ever-changing schedule
