Job Description

Applicant will conduct research at the frontier of development and application of remote sensing technologies for sustainable agriculture, particularly above- and below-ground crop phenotyping. Applicant will have in depth experience with the operation of field, airborne, and/or satellite remote sensing technology including terrestrial laser scanners (TLS), ground penetrating radar (GPR), small unoccupied aircraft systems (sUAS), and satellite data including Landsat and Sentinel 1 and 2. Applicant must be an FAA-certified drone pilot, be familiar with agricultural experimental design. They must be experienced with Linux/UNIX and Windows 11 and up operating systems (OS) as well as open source and proprietary commercial software, particularly Leica Cyclone, R, Python, GPR Slice, Cloud Compare, Surfer, QGIS and the ESRI suite of products including ArcGIS to data and image processing, as well as statistical analysis with convention statistical and machine learning tools and . The applicant will have experience with managing large datasets and operating High Performance Machine Learning based Computers .Lastly, the Post-Doc applicant will prepare and publish research findings, assist with undergraduate and graduate mentoring, and help Dr. Washington-Allen with the management of the Environmental Tomography and Emerging Technologies Lab (the ET & ET Lab or the "Double Alien" Lab).
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in with a degree in Environmental Science, Precision Agriculture, Agricultural Science, Dryland or Natural Resources Science and Management or related.
Doctoral degree must have been completed within the five years immediately preceding the first date of appointment as a postdoctoral fellow at the University.
The individual cannot have held previous positions in the professional ranks.
