This position is 4-10hr shifts, rotating days, M-F, no weekends/holidays

Phillips House 22 is a nineteen-bed unit of single-occupancy rooms designed to promote healing and family-centered care. The unit is dedicated to the care of men and women from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds with complex needs and problems. The specialty populations cared for on the unit include benign and malignant gynecology, general surgery, and post-partum. Patients admitted to this unit require complex oncology care which may include chemotherapy regimens, chemotherapy desensitization, biotherapy, targeted therapy, radiation therapy, proton therapy and palliative care. The scope of care includes acute medical and surgical diagnoses as well as chronic illnesses associated with acute episodes. Care is given over the illness continuum from diagnosis to control, remission or advanced disease.

This Physician Assistant position is crucial for delivering comprehensive care to women with gynecologic cancers in a dynamic academic setting. Working collaboratively with fellows, residents, and nursing staff, the PA provides essential continuity on the inpatient service, particularly valuable given rotating resident schedules.

The role requires strong clinical skills, interpersonal sensitivity for oncology patients and families, and the ability to navigate complex environments from routine floor management to ICU coordination. With a census of six to twenty patients, this position offers meaningful work in women's health within a supportive interdisciplinary team that values evidence-based practice and efficient resource utilization.

Qualifications:
• Minimum of 1yr PA experience preferred
• PA experience in oncology, gynecology, surgery, preferred


 

Job Summary

Summary
The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation.

Essential Functions
-Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting.
-Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
-Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
-Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
-Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
-Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
-Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population. <br>

Master's Degree Physician Assistant required

Experience
Experience as a licensed Physician Assistant preferred

- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
