Job Details
To assist GI physicians and leadership develop a program to facilitate patient access to colonoscopy services, including direct access colonoscopy. Work with Physicians, Clinical Support Staff and Administration to improve the rates of successful colonoscopy in patients indicated for the procedure, to increase adherence to colonoscopy prep, and to decrease the number of cancellations and no shows for the procedure through educational programs and outreach.Job Description
- Oversee the screening and scheduling process and assist management in order to flag patients who require additional support and/or education on the importance of screening for colon cancer.
- Screen patients using a predetermined protocol to ensure proper placement into either direct-access program or scheduling for a visit with a gastroenterologist;
- Assist with Program development and implementation of algorithms to get patients who need to have a colonoscopy scoped through education and removal of barriers i.e. no ride, problems understanding prep etc.
- Educating patients about the colonoscopy procedure and colonoscopy prep;
- Conducting reminder phone calls to patients scheduled for direct-access colonoscopy;
- Tracking data on a range of measures related to colonoscopy;
- Work with Referring Physicians in and outside of Jefferson to facilitate and maintain effective communication.
- Work with the Referring Physician practice staff to increase the percentage of colonoscopies in patients indicated for the procedure.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma, some clinical training /BS in health related field preferred
One to two years of experience in a medical setting preferred.
Some formal clinical training (Medical Assistant, LPN)
