GS-06: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector: Communicating clear and concise information to management, co-workers, or outside parties in a courteous and professional manner Using desktop computers and software programs to prepare and/or update documents, such as correspondence, electronic spreadsheets, or databases in the performance of daily duties Maintaining or safeguarding documents/records containing sensitive or confidential information in a business environment, such as documents containing personal financial information or Personally Identifiable Information (PII) Preparing and proofing legal documents These qualifications must be clearly referenced in your resume. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Generally, time in non-pay status as a federal employee is not creditable towards the specialized experience requirement listed above.
