SUMMARY
The Packout Shift Manager oversees the management, planning, scheduling, development, and execution of projects in Packout as well as the execution of receipts and shipments of materials and finished goods. The Packout Shift Manager provides supervision and direction to the pack out operation and ensures compliance with company procedures. The role schedules personnel and is responsible for conflict resolution within the shift.
JOB FUNCTION/PURPOSE
- Analyzes general facility operations.
- Participates in meetings with the operations team regarding new projects and required tasks.
- Makes recommendations for changes to improve production design or production efficiency.
- Conducts regular production meetings with supervisors and leads about new projects.
- Participates on the evaluation and cost analysis of the projects during the run and when completed. Able to provide feedback about ways to improve.
- Works with Packout Project Planning to determine order in which projects will run.
- Performs production line flow Analysis with supervisors to identify more efficient practices.
- Works with procedures to improve existing systems.
- Ensures machines maintained and preventive maintenance procedures are followed. Inspect work centers with supervisors for evidence of excessive waste.
- Makes supplies and equipment available for maximum efficiency.
- Participates in the planning of annual organizational budget and job costing.
- Hires staff and forms teams within the department.
- Mentors new hires to ensure a smooth transition to a new system.
- Holds training sessions for staff.
- Rolls out new policies for increased production and efficiency throughout the shift.
- Works with Packout Estimating team to Identify tasks and tools appropriate for each project.
- Communicates with first & second shift crews about pending assignments.
- Coordinates scheduled maintenance procedures with maintenance manager.
- Performs checks on workplace practices for compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Schedules crew working hours and shift rotation.
- Evaluates employee’s performance across entire shift.
- Oversees 2nd shift dock schedule and ensures that shipping/receiving team is properly staffed to execute.
- Oversees the movement of goods between the storage/manufacturing facilities and the Packout facility, as needed.
- Ensures the Completion of all paperwork relating to received and shipped materials by end-of-shift.
- Escalates opportunities for improvement to Packout Operations Manager and is actively involved in continuous improvement.
- Performs additional duties as requested
Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
- Equivalent to completion of two years college, preferably supplemented by coursework and training in business, customer relations, and project management.
- Valid Driver's License with DMV evidence of good driving record.
- Bilingual in Spanish/English a plus.
