**Please note that this is a temporary position.  Anticipated length of assignment will run from mid-June to early November.   Ideal candidate will work onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and can work remotely Monday and Friday.

Our close-knit, talented, and dedicated Finance team is focused on guiding Poseida to maximize its ability to deliver single treatment cures to patients in need.  By joining our team, you will play an integral role in sharing Poseida’s journey with investors and other stakeholders by working cross-functionally with key members within the company to deliver clear and concise information that focuses on what is most important: Poseida’s ability to create life-saving cell and gene therapies.  You will be a key part in ensuring compliance with financial regulatory bodies, including managing the day-to-day accounting and the financial close and reporting process, and appropriately capturing developments from Poseida’s continued evolution and growth.


Position Summary:

The Associate Director of Accounting will be responsible for assisting in managing the day-to-day accounting functions including the financial close process, internal and external reporting, and maintenance of effective internal controls. The position requires that the candidate be a hands-on professional with a strong understanding of the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting. A SOX-compliant mindset, strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and desire and ability to identify, recommend and lead improvements is important. 


Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in review of monthly/quarterly account reconciliations, journal entries, and invoices to ensure company financial records are maintained in compliance with US GAAP 
  • Assist with management of quarterly reporting schedule and related deliverables
  • Review and approve payments in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Prepare and review schedules to support the annual audit process
  • Prepare requests related to tax compliance and tax provision support
  • Recruit, manage and develop staff to meet department deadlines and objectives
  • Examine contracts to summarize key terms and determine appropriate accounting treatment
  • Coordinate and oversee internal control procedures, provide assistance in updating and improving documentation related to internal controls, and assist with annual walkthroughs
  • Provide technical accounting support and research for complex transactions and emerging accounting standards (SEC, US GAAP, PCAOB, etc.) and assist with technical memo preparation
  • Ensure compliance with Company accounting and internal control policies as well as GAAP
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as required
  • Participate in process improvements, financial system enhancements and special projects as needed


Requirements

 Requirements, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or related field with 10+ years relevant experience. Must have at least 5 years of progressive experience in an accounting role (an equivalent combination of relevant education and applicable job experience may be considered)
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Public company, biotech/pharmaceutical company, and/or public accounting (Big 4 preferred) experience preferred
  • Previous management experience is preferred
  • Ability to work independently, coordinating priorities to meet deadlines. Must have ability to set own pace and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines and adapt to changing work priorities
  • Results oriented with strong accounting, financial, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of US GAAP
  • Strong organization, time management skills, and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and possess the ability to communicate effectively with employees of different levels
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage highly confidential material in an appropriate manner
  • Must have an understanding of financial accounting systems and processes
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite with intermediate-to-advanced Excel skills
  • Experience designing, implementing, and documenting policies and procedures in a SOX-compliant environment.
  • Great Plains and Jaggaer experience a plus


Temporary - Associate Director, Accounting Pay Rate: $68/hour to $85/hour
