About the role

Position Overview

Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Director of Graduate and Online Enrollment Management provides strategic leadership and direction for both domestic and international enrollment efforts of graduate and online students in the form of a goal-focused, results-driven strategic enrollment plan. 

The Director will oversee recruitment activities that incorporate best practices and data-driven analysis for graduate and online lead generation, inquiry cultivation, application management, pre- and post-admit communications and all with the intent to grow current programs while outlining opportunities for new programs. 

Working with key internal and diverse stakeholders, the Director works to develop proactive and nimble strategies to adjust to changing environments and trends in recruitment and admission of graduate and online students. 

The Director is accountable for designing and leading a team of at least two Enrollment Advisors who support all enrollment processes, by College. Together, this team collaborates with the Deans and individual Program Directors, as well as Enrollment Marketing, to ensure an exceptional experience for prospective students at time of inquiry through to enrollment. 

Note: This is not a remote position. However, candidates who prefer to reside in locations remote to Indianapolis may be considered. Please note, due to the varied nature of states’ legal and administrative requirements, Butler University may not be able to offer remote employment to candidates in all states.

Responsibilities 

  • Lead and collaborate with key stakeholders to develop a graduate and online strategic enrollment plan that is a part of the larger university growth strategy. 
  • Work in partnership with College Deans, Program Directors, and Enrollment Marketing to create documents, communications, and strategies that showcase program distinctions. 
  • Develop and execute on-campus recruitment activities and supervise all aspects of on-campus, off-campus, and online recruitment events.
  • Manage all aspects of the enrollment funnel considering conversion rates while ensuring a quick response time if activity is not up to par. This includes regular reporting and the use of data analytics and reporting tools to assess outcomes and identify areas of improvement. 
  • Develop and implement an effective plan for admitted students that introduces them to the Butler community and promotes yield by working in collaboration with academic departments and student services. 
  • Work closely with the Associate Director of Financial Aid Student Services for Graduate, Professional and Other Learners to support students through the enrollment process and manage College/Program requests associated with the enrollment cycle. 
  • Assume responsibility in communication and reporting, as appropriate, for any third-party program support entity e.g. OPM.
  • Supervise the roles of Enrollment Advisor(s) established to work with specific academic programs/Colleges. 
  • Stay informed about trends and best practices in online and graduate enrollment, actively participating in professional development opportunities and networks.

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Five to seven years of professional experience in a higher education environment with experience in the development, implementation, and evaluation of recruitment strategies in the graduate and/or online space
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing recruitment strategies to meet enrollment goals and targets
  • Demonstrated work with program budgets and meeting revenue targets
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 
  • Working knowledge of and experience working with the admission process, including recruitment/yield strategies, customer relationship management (Slate) software, student records, admission cycle, application processing and processing software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and build relationships with stakeholders 
  • Three years of supervisory experience of a diverse staff, including hiring, evaluation, supervision, motivation, and training of professional staff and/or graduate students or undergraduate students
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Oracle People Soft.
  • Intermediate or advanced use of Slate CRM 
  • Comfortable in a dynamic environment including significant amounts of autonomy
