Experienced Backend Engineer - Music Vertical Platform

Do you want to be at the heart of Spotify's Music Mission to unlock the creator economy by helping artists get paid? The Music Vertical Platform powers the Spotify marketplace by building a consistent and reliable enterprise-grade platform.
We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join the band within the Creator Foundation product area. As a member of the team, you will be building payment capabilities that empower our industry-facing promotional and marketing products that enable artists to expand their ability to reach fans.

What you'll do:

• Be a valued member of an autonomous, multi-functional agile team to take on exciting and challenging problems for delivering value to artists.
• Architect, design, develop, deploy, and operate Java services following good design and development practices.
• Take operational responsibility for the services that are owned by your team.
• Practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems.
• Collaborate with other specialists, product managers and designers to identify and tackle ambitious problems, crafting incredible Spotify payment platform integrations for creators worldwide.
• Work in an environment that supports your individual growth by providing you with challenging tasks to tackle and the freedom to acquire new skills in reading groups, lectures and a variety of internal training courses.

Who you are:

• Have at least 4+ years of working experience as a Backend Engineer.
• Know how to write distributed, high-performance services in Java.
• You understand and are passionate about high-scale systems and want to build thoughtful, long-term architecture.
• You care about quality and you know what it means to ship high-quality code.
• Have a deep understanding of data structures and algorithms and understand how to apply them to craft pragmatic solutions.
• Have strong data and API modeling skills.
• Familiarity with sound engineering practices and working on cloud platforms like GCP

The United States base range for this position is $100,706-$175,308, plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six months of paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, and 13 paid flexible holidays. This range encompasses multiple levels. Leveling is determined during the interview process.  Placement in a level depends on relevant work history and interview performance. These ranges may be modified in the future.
