We are looking for a Data Engineer to partner with our analytics and data science team to build efficient data pipelines that power insightful data products, dashboards and analysis. You will be contributing to efforts to improve our data infrastructure and ensure that our end users can focus on analytic processing rather than data inputs and infrastructure.  

What You’ll Do:

  • Design, develop, own, and evolve the data, APIs, and pipelines that power our data platform.
  • Engineer robust, scalable, and efficient data pipelines. 
  • Build analysis-ready datasets that power analytic techniques like regression, classification, clustering, etc. 
  • Work with diverse data sources including satellites, UAVs, agricultural machinery, and IoT devices.
  • Identify continuous improvements with a clear understanding of business impact. 
  • Be a team player that everyone wants to work with.
  • Be a trusted partner to other engineering and science teams throughout R&D 
  • Develop with a focus on comprehensive testing and automation. 
  • Debug client/server applications and troubleshoot integration issues. 

What Skills You Need:

  • You have broad and deep experience with the python programming language and its ecosystem of tools and libraries. 
  • You have experience with big data and cloud computing technologies (preferably AWS). 
  • You are experienced with both SQL and ORMs. 
  • You are comfortable with UNIX-based systems and working on the command line. 
  • You are good at translating users' needs into actionable technical tasks. 
  • You put effort into clear technical and non-technical communication, and appreciate working with others who do the same. 
  • You have a passion for learning and working in a collaborative team environment. 

 Preferred Skills: 

  • Experience working with geospatial datasets.
  • Experience building scientific data visualizations. 
  • Experience building and deploying containerized applications. 
  • Experience contributing to open source projects. 
  • Interest in working adjacent to data science and other scientific domains.
