About the role

Job Description:

The Associate Engineer Factory Innovation implements new packs, products, and raw materials by creating process specs and packaging running conditions to achieve all quality standards and deliver efficient operation on Mars Wrigley factory lines.  Additionally, this role manages R&D line trials by coordinating requests with the site value stream, R&D, Engineering and Commercial to ensure optimal execution and knowledge capture.

What are we looking for?

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related scientific or equivalent

  • 1+ year experience in closely related industry

  • Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP's), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point Systems (HACCP), ISO, Regulatory Guidelines, Sensory, and/or Microbiology

  • Demonstrated success influencing/leading others

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in food packaging and/or processing, with an understanding of processes and machine operation

  • Six Sigma Green Belt preferred

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Be the key R&D factory interface for Packaging and Product Developers during the design and implementation of new packs, products, and raw materials.

  • Apply Six Sigma and Design for Vertical Startup tools to evaluate, risk assess and translate new packs, products, and raw materials to the factory.

  • Evaluate new packaging, products, and raw materials

  • Assess alternate material vendors to ensure security of supply for critical items

  • Create factory process recipes from approved product recipes for new products and raw materials

  • Determine correct packaging target weights for optimal performance

  • Document critical processing parameters in process specifications

  • Supports development of standard run conditions and center lines as part of new product, process, and pack validation

  • Assist Technical Services and value stream associates with escalated problem-solving opportunities

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.

The pay range listed is applicable to IL:USD 73,417.00 - USD 100,956.00
