Position Purpose
Mercy Care Atlanta is seeking a strategic and mission-driven Senior Grants Specialist to lead the full lifecycle of grants. This role is responsible for identifying funding opportunities, developing compelling proposals, and managing awarded funds to ensure compliance, financial stewardship, and measurable program impact. The Senior Grants Specialist plays a critical role in advancing Mercy Care’s mission through successful grant funding and evaluation.
What You Will Do
Lead end-to-end grant strategy, including research, pipeline development, and opportunity identification
Write, edit, and submit high-quality proposals to government and private funders
Develop and manage grant budgets in partnership with finance, ensuring compliance and accuracy
Oversee post-award activities, including financial tracking, reporting, and audit readiness
Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and private funder regulations (including Uniform Guidance)
Prepare and submit timely programmatic and financial reports
Analyze data to measure outcomes, evaluate impact, and drive continuous improvement
Serve as the internal grants expert, advising leadership and program teams on strategy and compliance
Maintain accurate grant records in CRM systems (Blackbaud preferred)
Build strong relationships with funders and external stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required in a related field.
A minimum of five (5) years of philanthropic and governmental grant writing experience.
Proven ability to manage complex problem-solving and influence decision-making.
Exceptional organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
Demonstrates superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills appropriate for audience comprehension. Well-developed communication skills, both written and oral, that may be used either in an on-site or virtual environment, are required. Able to communicate effectively with individuals and groups representing diverse perspectives.
