Job Description

The Marketing, Finance & Strategic Planning team is part of the Film &TV Studios Technical Operations Division. With a growing suite of Essbase, SAP-based FP&A applications, and custom applications such as PARIS, the Film Finance portfolio is experiencing continued investment and growth. It is home to some of the best-in-class studio accounting information systems.

The Senior Business Analyst will support the solution delivery lifecycle for the suite of financial applications that supports the participations and residuals reporting and audit functions under the direction of the Film Finance Business Engagement Manager. Additionally, the analyst will lead all change management activities to support the successful business adoption of new technology solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of film finance/accounting-based principles focusing on participations and residuals and proven experience supporting financial-based EPM applications. The Senior Business Analyst will leverage established NBCU processes, methodologies, and associated practices while carrying out their responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a business liaison between our Film Technology Solutions team and the Film Finance Business Community, focusing on participations and residuals to understand business requirements for system updates and translate requests into functional design specifications and test scripts.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regular production support activities, including issue analysis, documentation & prioritization, defect management, and testing.
  • Independently conduct and drive business requirements & design-related discussions and workshops.
  • Create design specifications using use case format, workflows, wireframes, modeling, and related methods as needed.
  • Create & execute test scripts to support change requests and defect verification, including user acceptance testing support.
  • Build effective relationships within a matrixed organization with other IT teams, Controllership & Film Finance contacts within Business Units to support change request solution design & testing
  • Create training documentation for new system enhancements and conduct user training sessions/demos to support knowledge transfer and user adoption of system updates
  • Research and evaluate new technology tools to support larger-scale system enhancements, including but not limited to data visualization tools & data discovery and analysis platforms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of technology experience performing business analysis.
  • Minimum 5+ years of technology experience supporting finance-based applications, reporting systems, or similar accounting-based financial systems.
  • Skilled in designing and documenting functional specifications for complex calculations, financial reports, and business scenarios/modeling.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills – the ability to communicate to all levels of the organization, both business and technology teams.
  • Strong understanding of technology project management SDLC processes and methodologies, such as Waterfall, Agile Scrum, and associated best practices, leveraging tools such as ServiceNow
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to utilize technology to create innovative solutions
  • Proficient in using the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Must work at the Universal City, CA, location and adhere to the RTO policies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience within the Media and Entertainment industry.
  • Film residual and participation reporting or audit experience.
  • Prior experience with PARIS solutions is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with remote teams across varying time zones
  • Experience with studio-based accounting practices.
