Akron General is looking to add a Clerk to the Akron Internal Medicine Center team. In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate and efficient completion of physicians' orders, processing consultations and referrals and making appointments for Akron Internal Medicine Center patients. You will use decision trees to arrange specialty visits and coordinate advanced imaging via Epic or Central Scheduling as well as handle incoming calls about scheduling and referrals. A caregiver in this position works days from 8:30AM – 5:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Transcribe physician orders, process consults and referrals and schedule all tests, lab work and appointments for office patients.
Complete necessary forms, requisitions and communications.
Provide patients with accurate information in a concise, informative manner while respecting patients' right to privacy.
Separate STAT orders and requests from regular workflow and processes, appropriately.
Track IMCA patient labs and procedures.
Maintain appropriate level of forms, materials and supplies.
Communicate all pertinent patient care information to appropriate personnel.
Function as back-up to Billing Secretary, assisting with phone calls, as needed.
Build and maintain physicians' schedules.
Assist in orientation of new personnel.
Complete mandatory training and education in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
Competent with computer software, practice management systems and Windows application
