Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a CyberSecurity Engineer to support the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) SSHINE contract to integrate, test, and support launch operations of experimental payloads. AFRL will provide the satellite bus and payload with all available documentation to date. you will play a key role in the development, integration, and testing of cutting-edge software for space systems. Working alongside other engineers and researchers, you will focus on designing, building, and implementing software solutions for space technology prototypes.

What you will do:
- Design and Implement Security Measures: Develop and implement cybersecurity architectures and defense strategies for complex hardware/software systems, ensuring compliance with RMF, NIST, and other DoD cybersecurity standards.
- Risk Assessment & Vulnerability Management: Conduct thorough cybersecurity assessments, identifying vulnerabilities and proposing effective mitigation strategies to safeguard systems and data.
- Incident Response: Lead the identification, analysis, and resolution of cybersecurity incidents, while ensuring timely reporting and documentation in compliance with government standards.
- Security Testing & Audits: Perform security testing, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments on software and hardware systems to identify weaknesses before adversaries can exploit them.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with engineering, operations, and other technical teams to integrate security practices into the development and deployment of hardware and software systems.
- Policy Development & Compliance: Assist in developing and enforcing cybersecurity policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all DoD regulations and ensuring the highest level of security is maintained.
- Security Training & Awareness: Provide guidance and training to team members on best cybersecurity practices, helping to foster a culture of security across the organization.
- Continuous Monitoring & Threat Intelligence: Continuously monitor cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and emerging technologies to proactively adapt security measures.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation related to security activities, including risk assessments, incident reports, and compliance audits.
- Collaboration with External Agencies: Liaise with government stakeholders, contractors, and other external organizations to share best practices, obtain necessary approvals, and ensure collaborative success.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
- Local to Albuquerque, New Mexico with the ability to work on-site
- This position requires the candidate possess a minimum of Top-Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI. The candidate must maintain the clearance.
- Cybersecurity Frameworks: Extensive experience with DoD cybersecurity standards, including RMF (Risk Management Framework) and NIST cybersecurity standards.
- Security Architecture: Strong knowledge of designing secure architectures for hardware/software-in-the-loop systems, cloud-based systems, and cross-domain data communications.
- Cybersecurity Risk Management: Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate security vulnerabilities in both software and hardware systems.
- Incident Response & Forensics: Skilled in detecting, analyzing, and responding to cybersecurity incidents.
- Cloud Security: Expertise in securing cloud environments, including storage, network security, and compliance management.
- Cryptography: Knowledge in cryptographic protocols and their implementation in data transmission between different classification levels.
- Network Security: Deep understanding of network security principles, including firewalls, VPNs, and network intrusion detection systems.
- Cybersecurity Tools: Familiarity with cybersecurity tools such as Nessus, Wireshark, Metasploit, and SIEM systems (e.g., Splunk).
