Purpose

The Administrative Associate will provide administrative support for faculty running grants through the Texas Materials Institute and some administrative support to the Materials Science and Engineering graduate program.

Responsibilities

  • Manages purchasing and payments for faculty TMI grants

  • Maintains and reconciles TMI research accounts and provides financial information monthly

  • Manages UT commercial cards for all TMI core faculty

  • Processes travel requests on grant accounts and Material Science and Engineering travel requests

  • Processes tuition and scholarship payments on TMI grant accounts

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with one year of experience at the administrative assistant level or a High School Diploma and five years of clerical experience

  • Customer service, event planning, recruiting, account management, or related experience

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Outstanding organizational skills, attentiveness to detail, and time-management skills

  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work as a team member and independently

  • Ability to effectively manage a high volume of work

  • Punctuality and professional demeanor

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • UTRMS and grant knowledge

  • Experience working in an academic environment

  • Experience with University of Texas policies, procedures and administrative systems
