Job Summary: 

The Senior Systems Engineer acts as the highest technical expert within the IT Operations Team. The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for maintaining, implementing, and proactively monitoring the company’s key infrastructure; This role is critical for ensuring continuous, secure business operations across the organization. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Own and oversee the engineering, configuration, and support of critical IT infrastructure including on-premise, virtualization, and cloud technologies. 
  • Act as the ‘owner’ of the company’s backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies, including testing and documentation. 
  • Act as the ‘owner’ of the company’s monitoring, alerting, patching, and logging for servers, endpoints, and network devices. 
  • Act as a technical escalation point for critical incidents and lead root cause analysis efforts. 

Other Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with security, applications, and support teams to enforce best practices and align with compliance requirements (NIST, CIS, PCI) 
  • Build and maintain automation scripts or workflows to improve operational efficiency. 
  • Participate in infrastructure upgrade projects and roadmap planning with the IT Operations Manager. 
  • Contribute to documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base development 

 

Required Skills & Experience: 

10+ years of hands-on experience Systems Engineering, and/or Infrastructure roles 

5+ Years of direct VMWare Experience  

10+ Years of experience in engineering within the Windows Server ecosystem, including Group Policy and Active Directory 

3+ Years network fundamentals, involving on-prem engineering (firewalls, VLANs, SD-WAN, VPNs) 

 

Preferred Skills & Experience: 

Experience working within a Critical Infrastructure industry 

Identity & Access Management (Such as Entra or Okta) 

Scripting & Automation (Such as Powershell or Bash) 

Cloud HyperScalers: (Such as AWS, Azure, or GCP) 

Mobile Device Management (Such as Intune or JAMF)
