Brown & Brown is seeking a Workers' Compensation Claims Associate to join our growing team in Tacoma, WA!
The Workers' Compensation Claims Associate position will support the agency's L&I consulting practice. The WC Claims Associate will work collaboratively with Workers' Compensation Claims Managers to provide support to the team and customers with the goal of containing claim costs and supporting implementation of recommended strategies. The duties relate to managing state fund employers' claims, not acting as a TPA for self-insured businesses. The WC Claims Associate will gain knowledge of the Washington workers' compensation system and claims management concepts. The WC Claims Associate will be responsible for carrying out all tasks as outlined in the Workers' Compensation Claims Associate Job Description "Roles and Responsibilities" addendum and report directly to Washington Workers' Compensation Practice Leader
How You Will Contribute:
Complete administrative tasks in support of the WC Claims Managers within various agency platforms.
Perform initial intake of new claims including communication and set-up according to established procedure.
Monitor claims for new developments and elevate to WC Claims Managers per established protocols and identify potential problematic circumstances.
Assist WC Claims Managers with information gathering, communications, and return-to-work documentation with customers and providers.
Review and evaluate materials from the employer, L&I, and medical sources.
Organize and prioritize work and new claims based on multiple criteria.
Pull and prepare both internal and external reports on claims data.
Communicate with L&I employees and advocate on behalf of clients.
Complete projects and ad hoc tasks in support of practice's growth as needs arise.
Coordinate with Brown & Brown team to provide financial analytics and execute on overall service plan for clients.
Skills & Experience to Be Successful:
College degree (preferred)
Experience with Washington workers' compensation claims management is (preferred)
Experience with commercial insurance industry basics (preferred)
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Analytical, detail-oriented, with a commitment to accuracy. Must be able to self-check work.
Good people skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
Highly organized and deadline focused.
