How will you make a difference?
- As a member of the Wabtec Bus Solutions Team, we are looking for an innovative mechanical engineer with design experience in transit vehicle (Bus, Rail etc.) passenger door systems or related experience and good working knowledge of electro-mechanical mechanisms and systems.
What do we want to know about you?
- Bachelor of Science degree (B. S.) in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
- 7 years’ experience working in product development independently or in multi-disciplinary new product teams.
- Proven track record of substantive contributions, both analytical and conceptual, to new product development and successful commercialization.
- Use of 3-D modeling software (Creo, Solid works or equivalent) to develop new parts and assemblies.
What will your typical day look like?
- Designs passenger door system operating equipment including mechanical actuation systems, controls and related equipment.
- Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs, which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.
- Applies mechanical /electro-mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; and construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and related components.
- Determines feasibility of designing new equipment considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors.
- Provides technical information materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations which affect long range plant and product engineering planning.
- Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype equipment and systems.
- Confers with Operations and Testing personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develops required design solutions.
- Prepares or directs preparation of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics.
- Works closely with Manufacturing Engineering to coordinate manufacturing and building of prototype product or system.
- Compiles and analyzes operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified equipment or product.
- Works closely with Test Engineering to develop test plans.
- Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
- Prepares design modifications as required.
- Coordinate engineering effort with other departments to achieve project milestones.
- All other duties as assigned.
