Deputy Director, GO- SEMI Workforce Development

BASIC FUNCTION:
Lead semiconductor industry workforce development coordination across New York State, a key part of the Governor’s Office of Semiconductor Expansion, Management, and Integration (GO-SEMI). Work with key regional and statewide stakeholders on the alignment and development of workforce development programs for the semiconductor industry.
WORK PERFORMED:
- Build and maintain relationships and partnerships with governmental and quasi-governmental entities, business groups, community-based organizations, training and education providers, and higher education institutions across New York State.
- Plan and facilitate necessary community and stakeholder engagement meetings and events.
- Public speaking and presentations at stakeholder events and public meetings.
- Develop a public promotional campaign on careers in the semiconductor industry that includes paid media and social media in consultation with appropriate ESD Departments.
- Develop a statewide workforce inventory of training and education programs to meet the needs of the semiconductor industry.
- Identify existing training and education programs to expand the capacity of, and those that could be scaled.
- Present written and oral summaries of GO-SEMI activity to executive management, as requested.
- Coordinate with the Office of Strategic Workforce Development on funding and programs when relevant.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position expected to work onsite and/or remote consistent with NYS and ESD guidelines and needs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education Level required: Bachelor’s degree, or associate degree with four to eight years of equivalent work experience.
Relevant experience required: 5+ years relevant experience required. 7+ years relevant experience preferred. Experience in semiconductor industry and / or workforce development preferred.
Skills required: Workforce development program development, implementation, and evaluation; partnership building; stakeholder and community engagement; government relations; public policy;
basic data analysis; problem solving and critical thinking; public speaking; excellent written and oral communication; strong computer skills.
