RSM SALT Property Tax professionals assist companies in managing their property tax reporting obligations and related liabilities.  Their level of service includes compliance, asset classification review and valuations, real and personal property tax consulting, property tax appeals assistance, bill review and planning.   

Locations: Phoenix, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Charlotte, and SF Bay Area

Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent service to maintain and develop strong client relationships with existing and new multi-state property tax clients– approximately 60% of your time.
    • Perform thorough reviews of property tax returns and valuations.
    • Analyze new legislative developments to identify tax saving opportunities and tax planning.
    • Assist and analyze property tax considerations related to business restructuring and/or due diligence engagements.
    • Effectively communicate with clients and engagement team on work progress and expectations
  • Assist practice leadership to prepare presentations and proposals to new and existing clients – approximately 30% of your time.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach to the engagement team by providing training, feedback and guidance – approximately 10% of your time.
  • Ability to integrate with clients, as well as local and national RSM colleagues from various capabilities/service lines.

Required Qualifications:

  • Requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Requires one of the following: CPA, CMI, JD or LLM
  • Requires a minimum of 5 years of experience providing property tax services in a public accounting, consulting, or law firm.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of a variety of property tax laws, regulations, policies and procedures, as well as tax planning, restructuring, due diligence, audit defense, reverse audits and state controversy work.
  • Ability to work closely with clients to answer questions or to collect necessary information for tax service requirements.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 10% to 20% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA, JD or CMI
  • Proficient in PTMS and Microsoft products
  • Organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize multiple assignments
