Senior Clerk
The Department of Health in Pinellas has Senior Clerk positions open in the Medical Services Program at the St. Petersburg Health Department and Centralized Call Center.
Job Summary-Senior Clerk: The successful incumbent must be bi-lingual in English and Spanish and will work be the in WIC call Center. This position involves regular contact with a diverse population both in person and over the phone and will require working with sensitive and confidential information.
Your Specific Responsibilities
- Performs client registration for the WIC Program.
- Interviews clients to obtain demographic and eligibility data. Reviews documentation and makes a determination as to eligibility for program benefits as in the DHM Manual 150-24.
- Enters data into the computer system as outlined in the FLWISE Clinic Manual and Worksheets.
- Notifies clients of expiring certification, and schedules appointments.
- Explains WIC Program eligibility, application procedures, correct EBT card usage, and the appointment system.
- Issues food benefits and ID/VOC cards and shopping lists to appropriate clients. Maintains electronic eligibility records.
- Maintain productivity standards for eligibility determination and food benefit issuance.
- Participates in four community outreach activities per one year evaluation period.
- Provides basic nutrition and breastfeeding information to clients through the newsletter contacts. Participates in breastfeeding promotion and support activities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to prioritize work, identify changing priorities and adjust as needed.
- Ability to self-monitor work for accuracy and maximum productivity
- Ability to use multiple computer programs and software such as Microsoft office to retrieve and/or input data.
- Strong internal and external customer service skills
- Ability to independently solve problems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in addition to good listening skills, including the ability to speak English fluently.
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others
- Knowledge of patient confidentially laws
- Ability to work with a diverse population
- Ability to review data for accuracy and completeness
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations
- Knowledge of medical insurance
- Ability to prepare accurate reports and correspondence
Qualifications:
Minimum
- At least 1 years of computer experience
- At least 1 years’ experience working in a fast-paced customer service position
Preferred
- Experience with FL Wise
- Experience working with different health insurances, including Medicaid
- Experience determining financial eligibility for clients/patients
- At least 1 year experience working in a medical office setting
