Armstrong World Industries (AWI) is offering an exciting job opportunity for a Principal Engineer in Lancaster, PA. As a Principal Engineer /Senior Principal Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in leading and executing projects related to manufacturing equipment and processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Leading and Executing Capital Projects:
    • You’ll be at the helm of major capital projects, ensuring they adhere to agreed-upon cost, schedule, and performance metrics.
  • Equipment Specification and Design:
    • Collaborate with vendors to specify equipment and design assets for new production lines within existing facilities or new ones
  • Cost Reduction and Sustainability:
    • Scope and recommend projects aimed at cost reduction and sustainability
  • Problem Investigation and Corrective Action:
    • Investigate process and equipment issues, providing recommendation for corrective measures.
  • Application of Engineering Principles:
    • Apply sound engineering principles to all aspects of your work.
  • Multifunctional Project Teams:
    • Actively participated in multifunctional project teams, overseeing capital projects from concept to asset installation and start-up,
  • Lean Events and Process Improvement:
    • Engage in Lean events to drive rapid process improvements.
  • Mentoring and Development:
    • Mentor and develop engineers and maintenance personnel, sharing technical and engineering best practices.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Educational Background
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience
    • Possess 7 – 10 years of experience in technical engineering or leading capital projects.
  • Leadership Skills
    • Demonstrate the ability to lead teams, especially on potentially ambiguous projects
  • Project Management
    • Manage multi-faceted projects, catering to senior level stakeholders
    • Capital management experience
  • Technology Integrations
    • Drive the adoption of new technology platforms within manufacturing plants
  • Hands-On Approach
    • Be comfortable with hands-on installations and construction tasks.
