Summary:
The Center for Student Involvement (CSI) is the hub for the student experience at American University. CSI facilitates leadership development, organizational advising, and programs that help foster a sense of belonging for the next generation of changemakers. Our office is home to Student Government, Student Activities Council, Student Media, Student Organizations, Fraternity & Sorority Life, and the Graduate Leadership Council.
The Programming Graduate Student Assistant is a member of the Center for Student Involvement team who is responsible for co-advising the Student Activities Council (SAC) programming boards (Kennedy Political Union, Students for Change, Student Union Board, and Spirit & Traditions Council) in the areas of event planning, leadership training, and risk management. The position will also support signature Center for Student Involvement Welcome Week and Late Night & Weekend programs.
Responsibilities:
Co-advise the SAC programming board(s) with the Assistant Director of Program Initiatives,.
Providing support for internal and external communications, and day of event support.
Responsible for supporting CSI programs and initiatives, through planning, execution, and assessment of events
Collaborate with other departments and student organizations, to develop engaging programs that foster connection and community
Assist with managing social media accounts and creating marketing materials for events.
Attend weekly meetings with the Assistant Director of Program Initiatives and CSI Staff meetings
Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work:
Part-Time.
15 hours per week.
Some nights and weekends required.
Salary Range:
$18.50 per hour.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree required.
Experience with managing events and leadership development.
