Job Summary
Oldcastle Infrastructure is looking for a Design Engineer Intern. Interns will have the opportunity to apply your classroom-learned skills to assist the development of production drawing sets and layouts for products manufactured at our facility. The position is based in Romeoville, IL, with regular commute to Kenosha, WI, and Elgin, IL, as well as occasional travel to Kalamazoo, MI.
This position is expected to start in person around May 2025 and continue through the entire summer term (i.e. through August 2025). We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time, onsite for most internships.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist with design portions of a project related to discipline systems according to code and standards under the direct supervision of the engineering department
- Participates in the analysis and validation of design concepts
- Performs routine engineering tasks using standard engineering practices
- Learn to apply applicable design principles related to Project requirements
- Follow Oldcastle’s national CAD standards and procedures for creation of product drawings utilizing AutoCAD
- Review bills of materials and production drawings
- Assist drafters and engineers as needed
Job Requirements
- Sophomore or Junior pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or other related discipline and/or equivalent combination of knowledge, skills and abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of engineering fundamentals and proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and exemplary oral/written communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
- Ability to write reports and analyze raw data
- Knowledge of construction practices is a plus
Compensation
- The hourly pay is $25/hr
