COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR - $108,758 UP TO $132,496 ANNUALLY DOE

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
Under the general direction of the County Manager this position provides strategic oversight and administration of Rural Addressing/Floodplain Management, select Grant Administration, Geographic Information System (GIS), certain county issued permits and oversight of assigned county review processes and Planning. This involves leading all aspects of land use planning, zoning, economic development initiatives, permitting, and environmental reviews. A comprehensive understanding of GIS, rural addressing, floodplain management, and Eddy County's subdivision regulations (including Type One through Type Five, exemptions, and replats) is essential. The work primarily focuses on project and grant management, in-depth research and analysis, preparing official correspondence and resolutions, and effectively addressing community concerns. Projects may include, overseeing the County’s comprehensive plan, community plans, transportation plans, economic development plans, and master plans of certain county initiatives and working cooperatively with elected officials and county staff, providing support and recommendations to the County’s planning and development board and the Board of County Commissioners, and implementing county ordinances. Additionally, this position may be assigned to oversee the scope of work of assigned external partners and build strong relationships with stakeholders. The ideal candidate will demonstrate considerable initiative, independent judgment, and exceptional interpersonal skills when engaging with County employees, community stakeholders, business leaders, contractors, and the public. May be required to work overtime, irregular hours, attend meetings, both in and out of state and perform other duties as assigned.
