GCU Cheerleaders Student Worker (FWS/NFWS)

GCU Cheer Student Worker 

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and dependable student to support the operations of our GCU Cheer team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-energy environments, has a strong sense of organization, and is passionate about sports and school spirit.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities/Essential Functions:

• Assist with day-to-day organizational tasks, including scheduling, inventory, and communications
• Oversee small events (team appearances, community outreach, etc.) with professionalism and attention to detail
• Operate a headset during games and performances, cueing music, scripts, and timing elements in coordination with the cheer team and event staff
• Collaborate with spirit teams (cheer, dance, mascot, band) and event operations staff to assist in ensuring seamless execution during games and events
• Support game day prep and breakdown tasks as needed

Requirements:

• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Effective verbal communication and ability to stay calm under pressure
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends during games and events
• Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic, spirited team
• A passion for sports, student involvement, and fan engagement

Equipment Used and Responsibility: 

• MS Office
• Band
• Google Docs, Sheets, Forms etc.

Qualifications:

• Exceptional ability to organize information and pay attention to detail. 
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment. 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with peers, coworkers, and managers
• Creative ideas to elevate GCU gameday experience
• Outstanding ability to manage time and handle multiple tasks and priorities.
• Passion for entertainment, fan experience, spirit programs, athletics, student engagement, leadership, etc.

Experience/Education: 

Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment: 

• Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program.
• Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
• Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.

 You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.

Pay Rate: Minimum Wage 

Anticipated End Date: June 30, 2026
