About the Role:

At PitchBook, employees are our customers, and customers are king! The Finance team handles everything “money” at PitchBook including accounting, quote-to-cash, payroll, compliance and budgeting for our fast-paced and growing company. The team supports the growth of PitchBook by providing actionable insights on the company’s financial health, all while working with a fun, energetic team!

The PitchBook Finance team is looking for a Sr. Financial Analyst that can contribute, improve and build PitchBook’s financial planning and analysis function and work with department leaders across the organization to supply meaningful insights into their decision making.  The ideal candidate will embrace our company’s core values of “embrace and drive change” and “excellence is a state of mind” as we continue to scale and partner with the business. 

 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Build, constantly improve and manage company budget and forecast models for profits and loss, balance sheet and cash flows
  • Assist with inputs and preparation of the annual planning and quarterly forecasting processes
  • Manage monthly headcount reconciliations and cost-per-head analytics
  • Own headcount and operating expense financial models for department budgets
  • Report and be able to speak to financial results and related implications monthly to senior level managers and key stakeholders
  • Provide analysis and interpretation of complex financial information utilizing judgement and discretion
  • Identify trends, variances and key issues and provide recommendations to leadership
  • Deliver innovative, high value-added financial information and support analysis to leadership for strategic planning and decision making
  • Regular analysis and reporting of monthly, quarterly and annual financial results
  • Actively collaborate with accounting as part of the month-end close process to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial results
  • Collaborate across multiple teams, including analysts, project managers and senior level managers to help spearhead the budgeting and forecasting cycles across all business units
  • Lead monthly departmental plan vs. actual reviews with budget owners
  • Partner with department budget owners to provide financial insights, in-depth analysis and budget support
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and propose improvements
  • Serve as team lead for any financial analysts on the team
  • Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors
  • Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting. MBA is a plus
  • 4+ years minimum business experience with 2+ years in a relevant role
  • Strong budgeting and forecasting experience
  • Strong understanding of US accounting principles
  • Experience with budget and forecasting tools like Anaplan or Adaptive Planning
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Excel/PowerPoint and financial modeling skills
  • Excellent communication skills with proven ability to communicate effectively with business partners at various levels in a clear, concise and respectful manner
  • Intellectually curious self-starter who is eager to seek out projects independently
  • Attention to detail and willingness to dig into the numbers to gain key insights
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including in-depth knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily
