Job Description:

The Director of Learning and Development will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive training strategy that enhances the skills and leadership capabilities of employees across the organization. Partnering with leaders and senior executives, this role will assess organizational learning needs, developing tailored training programs, and continuously improving the effectiveness of these initiatives, aligning with strategic business goals. The successful candidate will create a best-in-class learning experience, leveraging innovative methods/tools to drive growth, leadership development, and organizational success.

Responsibilities

Leadership Development

  • Design best-in-class leadership development programs, customized and for different leader populations including, but not limited to front-line, mid-level and senior leaders. 
  • Support and design the execution of annual Leadership Summit, to prepare current and emerging leaders to deliver on business results.
  • Align leadership development efforts with overall talent strategy including areas such as development plans, talent assessment, succession planning, etc.
  • Establish assessment and measurement tools in support of programmatic work, articulating business value and driving enterprise outcomes.

Learning Strategy, Design & Delivery

  • Create and maintain training resources such as manuals, guides, e-learning modules, and case studies.
  • Deliver training sessions using diverse methods such as simulations, role-playing, online/AI tools, and instruction.
  • Deploy cutting edge and leading practices for adult learning in a predominantly virtual environment.

Curriculum Development

  • Build and manage a cohesive learning and development curriculum covering leadership development, onboarding, technical skills, and soft skills development.
  • Partner with department heads to design individualized and team-based training solutions that meet specific business objectives.
  • Support as needed any compliance and regulatory training needs for the organization.

Technology, Measurement & Evaluation

  • Lead the Learning Management System (LMS), including strategy, content uploading, tracking participation, and generating reports.
  • Analyze training outcomes and measure the effectiveness of learning initiatives to ensure ROI and alignment with organizational goals.

Strategic Collaboration

  • Partner with HR, business leaders, and management to identify training needs and align learning programs with the organization’s strategic vision and core values.
  • Collaborate with external vendors for specialized training programs, ensuring alignment with organizational needs.
  • Evaluate build vs. buy approach for content assets and delivery.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, organizational learning and development, or a related field.  Advanced degree preferred.
  • 7–10 years of experience in corporate learning and development roles, with a proven track record of designing and delivering impactful training programs.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning theories, instructional design, and program management.
  • Experience with LMS administration and e-learning software.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Prior experience in financial services or insurance industry a plus
  • Prior experience with Workday preferred.
