Senior Interoperability Engineer (C#, FHIR)

The Senior Interoperability Software Engineer will play a key role in the definition and design of our next-generation data quality healthcare solutions. This person will work as a strong Interoperability engineer using C# in a Microsoft environment, alongside stakeholders, customers, and NCQA’s business teams and technical teams. This person will work across local and remote teams to drive best practices, high quality, and timely, on-budget deliverables. This person will also contribute to related software projects in support of NCQA’s digital transformation.
Responsibilities:
- Software Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, and maintain software applications using C#, Visual Studio, SQL, CQL, HL7/FHIR and other related technologies. Identify and troubleshoot software defects and issues, working with the team to find effective solutions. Develop and execute unit and integration tests to ensure software quality and reliability. Continuously improve software performance, scalability, and maintainability. Design and architect features for new and existing applications.
- Code Review: Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, adherence to best practices, and maintainability. Help determine and set best practices on the team.
- Collaboration and mentoring: collaborate with Product Managers, QA Engineers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver features that meet business needs. Assist junior engineers on best practices and standards.
- Strategic planning: Assist the Digital Engineering team leaders with technology strategy. Stay apprised of industry & market conditions. Help drive technology implementation decisions within digital engineering & the CTO group at large. Raise tactical concerns as they may impact larger initiatives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (computer science, computer engineering, etc.) or equivalent work experience. Master's degree or professional certificates preferred.
- 5+ years experience developing software at a senior level in a major modern platform using C#
- Interoperability: be fluent/subject matter expert in aspects of HL7 and FHIR
- Databases: SQL, NoSQL
- Cloud computing
- API consumption & architecture, including designing new APIs
- Subject matter expertise in FHIR and/or HL7 processes
- Strong analytic skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills. High motivation and ability to work with teams to meet project objectives.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to meet project deadlines and goals without management supervision.
Compensation & Benefits:
- For new hires, this position pays in the range of $135K - $165K per year, depending on experience.
- This position is eligible for an annual incentive bonus, payable in accordance with policy.
