Job Summary:

This is a full-time Research Scientist position in a developmental neurobiology research lab located at the Anschutz Medical campus in Aurora. The focus of the lab is development of the brain, using a combination of in vivo (mouse) and in vitro models to determine the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying evolution, development, and function of the brain. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out research projects under the direction of the principal investigator (PI). The Research Scientist will assist the PI in writing grant applications and research manuscripts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Mouse experiments using in utero electroporation

• Mouse colony maintenance tasks, including tail/ear snips, ear tagging, PCR, database entry, and management of colony breeding.

• Tissue dissections/processing

• Critical analysis of literature and generation of novel hypotheses

• Designing experiments to test systematically and comprehensively test hypotheses

• Writing grant application to national funding agencies and foundations

Work Location:

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

The Department of Pediatrics’ Section of Developmental Biology aims to forge a better understanding of childhood disabilities associated with neuropsychiatric disease, Down syndrome, the congenital basis of cardiovascular and facial malformations, and the impact of maternal health on fetal development. • Train the next generation of leaders in developmental and stem cell biology and pediatric disease research.
