TMHCC Stop Loss, a $2 Billion division within TMHCC, leads the way in providing medical stop loss insurance sold to employers. Medical Stop Loss provides an added layer of insurance protection to employers who choose to self-fund their health benefit plans. Self-funding can incur risks from catastrophic claims, and Medical Stop Loss insurance from Tokio Marine HCC is designed to protect employers from that risk.

Position Summary:

Identifies and analyzes products, services, and vendor point solutions that increase profitability, generate competitive advantages, and/or create market differentiators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor self-funded healthcare industry to proactively identify opportunities and threats to our business.
  • Review vendor point solutions as requested by Executive Management Group.
  • Collaborate with others in the Executive Management Group on product development, vendor solutions and process improvements as they relate to the market.
  • Leverage business relationships to identify producer and employer needs.
  • Evaluate existing products/services to ascertain value and determine if there is a better option.
  • Establish/strengthen partnerships with vendors who can help execute targeted opportunities.
  • Consistent and frequent communication with underwriters and sales reps to understand product/service needs their producers are asking for.
  • Participate on calls/meetings with producers to understand and analyze their ideas.
  • Work with underwriting offices to promote, advocate, and monitor sales of early-stage products and non-standard approaches in the healthcare industry.
  • Design and execute pilot “experiments” within regional offices and/or with specific producers.
  • Participate in industry, vendor, and producer conferences to identify new opportunities.

Education, Experience & Knowledge:

  • Minimum 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or a related field or the equivalent education and/or experience
  • Preferred Graduate Degree in Business Administration or a related field
  • 8 Years relevant and progressive experience in broad areas
    of expertise
  • Broad understanding of all aspects of US healthcare industry with focus on self-funded market
  • Ability to apply financial models and analysis to complex projects
  • Expert project management skills. Ability to plan, lead, and execute numerous projects
    simultaneously
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills. Ability to “sell” Executive Management on projects worth pursuing and to decline/kill opportunities without burning bridges.
  • Understanding of legal and compliance boundaries when analyzing opportunities
  • Ability to employ “implied authority” to get things done
