Job Description Summary

Join GE Vernova in solving some of the most important and technically complex challenges in the energy transition. In this role, you will lead high-impact work focused on the grid integration of advanced power systems, including data centers, renewable generation, battery energy storage, and other complex industrial loads. You will partner across GE Vernova businesses and with external customers and industry stakeholders to shape technical solutions that improve grid performance, reliability, and system stability.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct technical analysis in a team setting related to power electronic and power systems control of renewable generation, battery energy storage systems and Data Centers. 
  • Identify scope of studies and modeling efforts required to solve GEV and GEV customer technical challenges and preparing proposals in collaboration with other technical and commercial contributors. These activities are coordinated with Team leaders and other resources.
  • Develop industry leading processes and standards for study approaches, model development and management, benchmarking.
  • Establish rapport with key industry stakeholders and facilitate new working/business relationships.
  • Facilitate technical knowledge sharing among global CS teams and help bridge technical gaps.
  • Oversee work of technical teams and coordinate with technical directors on systems/process to maintain/improve quality.
  • Engage with and lead industry advocacy groups on behalf of GE and coordinate GE CS involvement in those activities.
  • Helping to establish recruiting pathways and internship programs to facilitate steady pipeline of new candidates.
  • Lead IP development activities (including mentoring, training on processes).
  • Educate external stakeholders on GE equipment capabilities and performance.
  • Contributing to multiple project teams to perform technical analysis and to mentor and advise other team members. Organizing project teams and guiding the work of individual contributors to the team effort.
  • Lead and manage project technical work, cost, and schedule.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Power Systems Engineering with a minimum of 17 years of experience in electric power industry with demonstrated experience in:
    • Technical performance analysis of electric power systems with power electronic sources or loads, or
    • Torsional interaction analysis or subsynchronous control interaction  of generation with Data centers, series compensation or HVDC systems
    • Experience with transient analysis.  Proficiency using and leading efforts with  EMT simulation tools
  • 10+ years of experience in a consulting organization, OEM organization, utility or system operator performing engineering analysis and design, and to developing engineering solutions in a team environment, and to provide technical consulting services to customers.
  • 5+ years with positions including mentoring less experienced engineers.
  • Willingness to travel 20% of the time.

Desired Characteristics

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Power Systems Engineering

  • Experience with wide system level studies in a consulting or utility environment.
  • Experience supporting power electronics control development for products connected to bulk utility systems or large industrial systems.
  • Familiarity with modeling and simulation requirements globally.
  • Experience mentoring teams on creation of models of complex equipment in transient analysis (ATP, EMTP-RV, PSCAD, etc) and stability (PSSE, PowerFactory, PSLF, etc) simulation tools based on field tests or equipment.
