Senior Director, Strategy and Business Planning

As the Senior Director of Strategy and Business Planning, you will play a critical role in shaping the strategic direction for Expedia Group’s newly formed Traveler Business division. Your responsibilities will span across multiple lines of business, including Hotels, Flights, Cars, Activities and Vacation Rentals, as well as working with the senior most leaders to drive profitable and sustainable growth through financial planning and forecasting for 20+ markets in 4 super regions.

You will play an integral role developing the strategic direction for our traveler business as well as monitoring, synthesizing, and optimizing financial performance.    You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to set revenue targets and ensure alignment with our global business goals and objectives

What you’ll do:

  • Strategy Development: Identify and play a key role in operationalizing key medium- and long-term strategic initiatives to improve the consumer performance and competitive positioning, while working with senior executives across the organization
  • Evaluate strategic opportunities and develop perspective on implications and actions for the traveler
    • Monitor the traveler ecosystem to identify market trends
    • Identify business / value driver opportunities and risks by challenging the broader consumer landscape
    • Assess strategic options and work critical stakeholders to develop the business case
    • Communicate findings to senior stakeholders, build buy-in
  • Financial Planning: Will partner with finance on annual financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Revenue Optimization: Collaborate with Finance to develop and execute revenue strategies, pricing models, and demand forecasting.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Business Unit Leadership, Global Markets Leadership, Marketing, Operations, and Finance teams to ensure alignment of revenue goals
  • Revenue Optimization: Develop and execute revenue strategies, pricing models, and demand forecasting
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage data analytics to drive informed business decisions
  • Performance Metrics: Regularly evaluate performance against targets against established financial KPIs
  • Global Alignment: Foster consistency and alignment across diverse markets

Who you are:

  • Minimum of 14 years of progressive experience in strategy, revenue management, financial planning within the travel and/or tech industry
  • Strategic mindset: Ability to think long-term, anticipate market trends, and adapt to changing business landscapes
  • Proven experience identifying and evaluating key market trends, opportunities, and risks
  • In depth business case development leveraging analysis in an ambiguous and fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to turn strategy into business results and drive growth
  • Global exposure: Experience working across diverse markets and understanding regional nuances
  • Leadership skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture
  • Financial acumen: Strong understanding of financial metrics, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Developing and execution of strategies at top tier consulting firm is strongly preferred

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $261,500.00 to $366,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $418,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience.  Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
