The Operations Manager is responsible for the performance of projects as well as development of business opportunities as it relates to the preparation and delivery of proposals including the execution strategies and procedures utilized for the delivery of all projects.  

 

What You'll Do Here 

  • Identify, pursue, and win project bid opportunities within assigned markets
  • Support and/or develop estimates and establish budgets for assigned projects
  • Plan, identify, recruit, hire, assign, and oversee personnel to execute assigned projects
  • Perform periodic and frequent customer site visits to ensure execution of projects to established policies, procedures, and standards as well as customer expectations
  • Perform problem solving, troubleshooting, and gap analysis and recommendations as needed
  • Identify risks to project execution and assist with strategy development for elimination and mitigation
  • Identify opportunities to improve project execution and assist with strategy development to exploit those opportunities
  • Oversee and manage assigned personnel as a functional manager, providing assessment and feedback as needed to improve performance and mentor
  • Identify and pursue personal, regional, state licenses to support development of new business in new states or regions
  • Track and measure costs against established budgets to ensure completion at or under budget
  • Track and measure field progress against established targets to ensure completion on or ahead of schedule
  • Informal safety inspections as per Aecon Red Book training
  • Provide supervisory guidance to project personnel
  • Participate in union labor agreement discussions and function as liaison between the company and the business managers from time to time Preparation of succession plans
  • Ensure that all employees are fully trained for the function they are expected to fulfill
  • Management of internal and external relationships to ensure Aecon’s reputation as a preferred supplier is maintained
