The Registered Nurse assumes a pivotal role within VisionQuest by spearheading the team's approach to non-clinical
health service delivery. The Nurse evaluates, facilitates, and oversees all aspects of youth's medical and dental care.
Emphasizing disease prevention and health maintenance, the Registered Nurse collaborates closely with medical
providers to ensure children in our care receive the best health services available.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
● Compliance:
o Maintain accurate medical files and documentation in VisionQuest database
o Ensure adherence to HIPAA standards
o Monitor and maintain compliance with all applicable healthcare regulations
o Oversee implementation and administration of all healthcare policies and procedures
● Medical Services Coordination & Response:
o Conduct and document medical intakes, assessments, and health histories
o Implement and monitor care plans through effective communication and documentation
o Develop comprehensive care plans before end of duty, ensuring clear communication for
incoming staff
o Record and monitor vital signs, noting changes and conducting further investigation as
needed
o Identify and report abnormal diagnostic data, demonstrating understanding of clinical
implications
o Evaluate and document response to nursing care as defined in care plans
o Provide timely medical, dental, and mental health services using local providers
o Coordinate scheduling and transportation for medical appointments
o Collaborate with health professionals to uphold health and safety standards
o Attend medical appointments as necessary, especially for complex cases
o Dispense medications according to VisionQuest's medication policy
o Respond to emergency medical needs
o Manage treatment authorization requests with insurance
o Maintain relationships with community providers
o Include children and families in care planning, priority setting, and goal establishment
o Promote health restoration through physician collaboration and physical/psychological
support
● Leadership and Supervision:
o Serve as Delegating Nurse for medication technicians, providing supervision and oversight
of medication administration
o Monitor medication technician certifications and ensure timely renewal of required
credentials
o Evaluate and document medication technician competency in accordance with state
regulations
o Provide ongoing training and support to medication technicians as needed
o Ensure compliance with all state requirements for delegation and medication
administration
● Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.
