Orbital is seeking a Construction Coordinator to be based in our Baton Rouge, LA Office. The role will entail planning and coordinating construction activities for a designated project to ensure goals or objectives of the project are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the duties listed below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures at site.
- Report safety compliance issues to project manager, safety manager and direct supervisor.
- Work with construction supervision and on-site safety personnel to stop unsafe construction activities.
- Administer construction crew’s performance for all projects and ensure compliance to all agreements and assist in various new rebuild projects.
- Prior to construction, inspect construction site, develop pre-construction checklist and ensure necessary permits are in place.
- Manage communication with construction crew(s) and project manager to resolve all queries for construction progress.
- Schedule and manage reconciliation meetings with site construction supervisors when necessary.
- Prepares construction progress logs and weekly progress reports. Maintain files for all reports.
- Coordinate with material and equipment supply personnel to maintain delivery schedules.
- Assure redline construction drawing markups are maintained and turned over at construction completion.
- Confirm utility locates are in place prior to excavation activities.
- Review drawings, specifications, and calculations prior to the start of the project.
- Works under minimal supervision and must be able to work in a team environment as well as work independently.
- This is a field position and requires the ability to walk around a field site. The employee is occasionally required to climb ladders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- Must be familiar with construction documentation and project filing systems as well as have a working knowledge of computer software tools and programs to include Microsoft Office and Adobe.
- Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and a vehicle to visit construction sites as well as have a flexible schedule and quick response time in order to compensate for the customer’s changing needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- OSHA 10 hour and MEA specific training is beneficial.
- Previous experience as a Construction Coordinator (Electrical T&D) is preferred.
